Basketball Recap: Kiona-Benton Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses at Home

If Wahluke wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Kiona-Benton, they should've done a better job of containing Shelby Messner. Everything went the Kiona-Benton Bears' way against the Wahluke Warriors on Tuesday as the Kiona-Benton Bears made off with a 42-22 win thanks in part to Messner, who dropped a triple-double on 20 points, ten rebounds, and 13 steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played.

Kiona-Benton's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8. As for Wahluke, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-13.

Kiona-Benton and Wahluke could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings. Kiona-Benton will square off against Naches Valley at 5:45 p.m. on Friday down 143 places (209 vs. 66). Meanwhile, Wahluke (ranked 323rd) will meet Cashmere (ranked 48th) at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday.
