Softball Recap: Independence Takes a Loss

After flying high against Columbia Central last Monday, Independence came back down to earth. The Eagles fell just short of the Brentwood Bruins by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since April 17, 2024.

Brylie Waechter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Brentwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Independence will venture away from home to face off against Ravenwood at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Brentwood, they are taking a road trip to square off against Wilson Central at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
