Softball Recap: Heritage Comes Up Short

Heritage has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.95 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They lost 11-1 to Jay County. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Heritage of the 3-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Heritage saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abriyah James, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Heritage's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 13-7. As for Jay County, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-2.

Coming up, Heritage will welcome Bluffton at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Jay County, they will be taking part in a tournament against Cowan at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
