Softball Recap: Corona del Mar Takes a Loss

Corona del Mar was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Huntington Beach Oilers, falling 19-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Oilers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-0 back in March.

Corona del Mar saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Uy, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Uy has hit this season. Makenna Smith was another, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Corona del Mar's loss dropped their record down to 8-17. As for Huntington Beach, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.

Corona del Mar does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Huntington Beach, they will head out to face off against Edison at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Oilers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargers have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
