Basketball Game Preview: Helena Bengals vs. Butte Bulldogs

Helena and Butte are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Helena Bengals will welcome the Butte Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Saturday, Helena was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 38-34 to Capital. The Bengals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Butte fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Big Sky on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 58-55. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Butte's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-3. As for Helena, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Helena didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Butte when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 42-37 victory. Does Helena have another victory up their sleeve, or will Butte turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
