Softball Recap: Freeport Triumphs

Freeport never got on the board in their matchup last Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against West Carroll on Tuesday. They blew past the Thunder 12-5. The Pretzels haven't had any issues with the Thunder recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Mackenzee Matz made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Matz was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Quinn Krzeminiski was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. Grace Muench was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Freeport's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for West Carroll, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Freeport will host Pearl City at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Carroll, they will welcome Newman Central Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
