Last Saturday, Brandon Academy might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Gaither an easy 76-50 victory.
Brandon Academy's defeat came about despite a quality game from Will Hawes, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Tyshaun Tims was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, Plant entered their tilt with Carrollwood Day with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Plant came out on top against Carrollwood Day by a score of 55-43 on Saturday. Given Plant's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Carrollwood Day is ranked 319th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brandon Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Plant, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Brandon Academy was dealt a bruising 77-25 loss at the hands of Plant in their previous meeting back in December of 2021. Can Brandon Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
