Baseball Game Preview: Union County Fightin' Tigers vs. The Villages Charter Buffalo

The Union County Fightin' Tigers will square off against The Villages Charter Buffalo at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither Union County nor The Villages Charter posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Union County lost 11-1 to Lafayette on Tuesday. The Fightin' Tigers have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Foster Smith made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for The Villages Charter's offense. They fell just short of Lecanto by a score of 2-0 on Monday. The Buffalo's defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

The Villages Charter saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marcello Cortale, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Union County now has a losing record of 11-12. As for The Villages Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 18-5.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Union County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like The Villages Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
