Basketball Game Preview: Flagler Panthers vs. Byers Bulldogs

Flagler hasn't had much luck against Byers recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Flagler Panthers will square off against the Byers Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Flagler took a blow against Limon, falling 64-17. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Byers on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Genoa-Hugo/Karval out of the water with a 70-18 final score. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 21 points or more this season.

Byers' win came from a few key players Flagler will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was James Maes, who went 7 for 9 on his way to 15 points. Quincy Eacret was another key player, going 6 of 11 en route to 15 points.

Byers was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Genoa-Hugo/Karval only posted one assist.

Byers has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Flagler, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-5.

Flagler was dealt a bruising 60-6 loss at the hands of Byers in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Flagler was down 41-4.
