2A South Puget Sound recap September 24, 2013

Orting's Jaysen Yoro rumbled for the longest rushing play in 2A South Puget Sound this season in his game against Franklin Pierce last week. Yoro scampered for 65 yards on the play and finished with 78 on the day as his team fell to the Cardinals.

Franklin Pierce scaled the state rankings by moving to 96 from 154 this week, the biggest jump in the league. Howard Lutton's team climbed the ranks as a result of besting Orting 23-21.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Marty Parkhurst's team's Eddie Prong and Justin Kennett have proven to be a lethal combination. Prong has thrown for 324 yards this season, while Kennett has 5 catches for 145 yards. DeJon Lynch from Sumner leads the league in rushing with 179 yards.

An important game coming up in 2A South Puget Sound this week will be when Clover Park takes on the Spartans. At the moment, the Warriors are in sixth, while Sumner is in first.

White River was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Hornets defeated Washington 43-14.
