Recap: Lennard Longhorns vs. Sumner Stingrays
The Lennard Longhorns lost against the Sumner Stingrays back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Lennard was the victim of a tough 56-33 defeat at the hands of Sumner. Lennard has struggled against Sumner recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Sumner was led to victory by Devin Baker and Isaiah Williams. Baker scored 9 points, while Williams scored 7 points along with 10 rebounds and 4 steals. Williams is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Douglas, who scored 8 points along with 3 steals.
Lennard's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Sumner, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lennard will face off against Tampa Bay Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Tampa Bay Tech focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday. As for Sumner, they will head out on the road to face off against Hillsborough at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hillsborough is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
