Volleyball Recap: Denver South Beats Cherry Creek for Their Third Straight Victory

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Denver South walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Cherry Creek Bruins 3-2 on Saturday. The victory was familiar territory for the Ravens, who have now won three contests in a row.

Denver South wouldn't go down easily and took Cherry Creek into a fifth set where they got it done with a seven-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-23, 23-25, 17-25, 15-8.

Denver South had a senior duo take command as Makenna Fischer had 23 digs and six assists and Elaina Maldonado had 11 digs and three aces. Fischer has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last eight times she's played.

Denver South's win bumped their record up to 18-6. As for Cherry Creek, their loss ended a four-match streak of away wins and brought them to 13-11.

Coincidentally, Denver South and Cherry Creek will both be playing Columbine the next time they take the court. The Bruins will head out to face the Rebels at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Ravens will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
