Baseball Recap: Myrtle Victorious

It was a Battle of the Birds when Myrtle faced off against Tupelo Christian Prep on Friday. The Hawks walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Eagles. This was payback for the Hawks, who suffered a 9-8 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Drew Stanton made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Stanton was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025.

Stanton wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jack Raines, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Wes Stanton also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Myrtle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win got Myrtle back to even at 2-2. As for Tupelo Christian Prep, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Myrtle didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 18-1 victory against Ingomar on the 28th. As for Tupelo Christian Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 8-5 win against Belmont on the 28th.
