Tri is 1-9 against Union County since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Titans will head out on the road to take on the Patriots at 5:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Tri came out on top against Winchester Community on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Titans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Golden Falcons a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won ten contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Macey Ballard was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Keirra Mettert, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lyla Williams, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Tri always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Winchester Community only posted an OBP of .231.
Meanwhile, Union County waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Golden Bears.
Union County let Harly Pilgrim and Addisyn Schneider run wild. Pilgrim went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Schneider went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Carsyn Garrett was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double.
Union County pushed their record up to 7-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Tri, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-3.
Union County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Tri has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Union County, though, as they've been averaging 9.5 hits. Given Tri's sizable advantage in that area, the Patriots will need to find a way to close that gap.
