Cannon has gone a perfect 10-0 against Charlotte Latin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Cougars will square off against the Hawks at 4:30 p.m. Cannon will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Cannon's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Charlotte Country Day School with a sharp 13-0 win. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.

Layla Wagner and Jolie Matthews did most of the damage at the plate: Wagner went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Matthews went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Wagner a new career-high. Viola Knosby was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Charlotte Latin ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Providence Day 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hawks have posted since March 26, 2024.
Sydney Thune and Ainsley Sullivan were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Thune struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Sullivan struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Thune has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. At bat, Thune went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Sullivan went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Avery Bly, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI.
Charlotte Latin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matchups.
Cannon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Charlotte Latin, their record is now 12-2.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cannon has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. However, it's not like Charlotte Latin struggles in that department as they've averaged .521. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cannon skirted past Charlotte Latin 5-4 in their previous meeting on April 3rd. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
