Preview: Carver Vo-Tech Bears vs. Benjamin Franklin Bayhawks
Carver Vo-Tech has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Benjamin Franklin Bayhawks at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Carver Vo-Tech knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matches -- so hopefully Benjamin Franklin likes a good challenge.
Carver Vo-Tech pushed their score all the way to 66 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Forest Park 71-66. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Monday (59), Carver Vo-Tech still had to take the loss.
Carver Vo-Tech's loss came about despite a quality game from Dorrian Sands, who scored 29 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Sands pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was David Ross, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Franklin put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They blew past Chesapeake Science Point 72-50. Given Benjamin Franklin's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Chesapeake Science Point is ranked 249th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carver Vo-Tech's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3. As for Benjamin Franklin, their win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1.
Everything came up roses for Carver Vo-Tech against Benjamin Franklin when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 62-30 victory. Does Carver Vo-Tech have another victory up their sleeve, or will Benjamin Franklin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
