Baseball Game Preview: Lubbock-Cooper Pirates vs. Clint Lions

The Lubbock-Cooper Pirates will take on the Clint Lions in a tournament on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lubbock-Cooper has three straight wins, Clint has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Lubbock-Cooper's tournament run continued when they took on Seminole on Friday. Lubbock-Cooper walked away with a 4-1 victory over Seminole.

Meanwhile, Clint lost 13-4 to Coronado on Friday.

Clint saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joe Aranda, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Joel Villagrana also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Lubbock-Cooper's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Clint, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8-1.
