Soccer Game Preview: Limestone vs. Springfield Southeast

The Limestone Rockets will venture away from home to square off against the Springfield Southeast Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Limestone's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Limestone is headed into Monday's contest following a draw, the team's first since April 16. They and Metamora finished up their matchup with a 0-0 draw on Friday.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last match, Springfield Southeast made sure to put some goals up on the board against Decatur Eisenhower on Friday. They blew past the Panthers 5-1. Springfield Southeast haven't had any issues with Decatur Eisenhower recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Anika Meinkoth and Presly Werts scored all five of Springfield Southeast's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 19 goals.

Springfield Southeast's victory bumped their record up to 5-12. Limestone's draw makes their record 10-8-2 this season.

Limestone got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Springfield Southeast by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
