Baseball Recap: West Scranton Comes Up Short

West Scranton had lost five straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-16 to make it six. They lost 12-5 to the Scranton Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 back in April.

West Scranton saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael D'Augostine, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Scranton, they now have a winning record of 11-10. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Scranton's side, Parker Woznick and Henry Bartlebaugh made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Woznick tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Bartlebaugh didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Woznick a new career-high in strikeouts (four). At bat, Woznick got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, while Bartlebaugh went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Drew Leonori was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Thor Kelly, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

West Scranton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Scranton, they will face off against Pocono Mountain West at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
