Basketball Recap: Niangua Gets the Win

Niangua won the last time they faced Everton and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Niangua Cardinals walked away with a 47-39 victory over the Everton Tigers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cardinals.

Despite the defeat, Everton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Joshua Daniels dropped a double-double on 24 points and 17 boards. Daniels' evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zayn Powers, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

Niangua's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-7. As for Everton, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Niangua and Everton could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. Niangua (ranked 485th) will meet Crocker (ranked 168th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Everton (ranked 526th) will meet Lockwood (ranked 211th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
