Volleyball Recap: West Ranch Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Santa Margarita

West Ranch faced Santa Margarita in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 on Thursday.

Dani Clewis and Alexandra Seres certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Clewis hit 72.7% for eight kills and nine digs and two blocks, while Seres had eight digs. Clewis is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last 50 games she's played dating back to last season.

This is the second loss in a row for West Ranch and nudges their season record down to 25-7. As for Santa Margarita, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 26-10.

West Ranch has already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Redlands on the 11th. As for Santa Margarita, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against San Marcos on the 11th.
