Basketball Recap: Independence Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Independence had to start their season on the road on Wednesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Northridge Vikings by a score of 44-42. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Loss or not, Independence got some senior leadership from Darren White-Tyler and Tavian Washington. White-Tyler shot 50% from the field en route to 15 points and five boards, while Washington went 5-for-7 on his way to 11 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Abdoulaye Ndongo, who posted five points and nine rebounds.

Coming up, Independence will head out to take on Whitehall-Yearling at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northridge, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Northmor at 7:15 p.m.
