Softball Recap: James Wood Drops Highest Score of Season Against Handley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask James Wood). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Handley Judges a 19-0 shutout on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Colonels considering their one-run performance the game before.

James Wood has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Handley, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. James Wood will face off against rival Millbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Colonels 2.2, the Pioneers 2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Handley is set to challenge their familiar foe Skyline at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
