Basketball Game Preview: Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech vs. Newman AA Cardinals

Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech are taking a road trip to take on the Newman AA Cardinals at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech took a loss when they played away from home back in November of 2024, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed back in December of 2024. They came out on top against Newman AA by a score of 103-94. The victory continues a trend for Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech in their matchups with Newman AA: they've now won three in a row.

Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech will need to focus on slowing down Xavier Sanchez, one of several Newman AA players who made an impact when they last played. He went 8-for-14 en route to 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Sanchez is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kaden Bedard, who dropped a triple-double with 16 points, 11 boards, and ten assists.

Even though they lost, Newman AA smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests dating back to last season.

The win got Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech back to even at 1-1. As for Newman AA, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-8.
