The Bethel Jaguars are taking a road trip to take on the Arroyo Dons at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Bethel made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Kennedy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Jaguars put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 15-5 win on Friday. The Jaguars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Oscar Patino made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Bethel is 3-1 when Patino posts eight or more strikeouts, but 2-9 otherwise. Patino was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances.
In other batting news, Xzavior Solis was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Keith Salmon was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Arroyo not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 22, 2024. They blew past Hayward 10-3. Winning may never get old, but the Dons sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Jacob Soares looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
At the plate, Gabe Zamora and Marco Carbajal did most of the damage at the plate: Zamora scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Carbajal scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Those two runs gave Carbajal a new career-high. Jered Montenegro also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Arroyo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Arroyo's record is now 6-8. As for Bethel, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-10 record.
Bethel suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Arroyo in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
