Volleyball Game Preview: Gilmer Buckeyes vs. Cumberland Academy Knights

Gilmer is a perfect 7-0 against Cumberland Academy since September of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Buckeyes will head out on the road to face off against the Knights at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Gilmer has three straight victories, Cumberland Academy has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Henderson came into Friday's match looking for another win against Gilmer, but Mallory Clark wouldn't allow it. The Buckeyes walked away with a 3-1 win over the Lions on Friday for which the team can thank Clark, who had nine digs and three aces. She is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 26-24, 24-26, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Cumberland Academy came up short against Kilgore on Friday and fell 3-1.

Gilmer's victory bumped their record up to 17-15. As for Cumberland Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-13.

Everything went Gilmer's way against Cumberland Academy in their previous meeting back in September, as Gilmer made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buckeyes since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
