Baseball Recap: Gilbert Classical Academy Wins Going Away Against Trivium Prep

After only two runs in their last game, Gilbert Classical Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Trivium Prep on Friday. The Spartans blew past the Crimson Knights 12-2. For the Spartans, this counts as revenge for the 13-1 win the Crimson Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2021.

Beckett Elliot spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hobey Hartman, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Max Fioresi, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Gilbert Classical Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trivium Prep only posted a batting average of .150.

The victory got Gilbert Classical Academy back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Gilbert Classical Academy will square off against Heritage Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Trivium Prep, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Scottsdale Preparatory Academy at 2:45 p.m. on March 10.
