Softball Recap: Greer Takes a Loss

Greer was the 7-3 winner over Travelers Rest when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Yellow Jackets fell just short of the Devildogs by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday.

Madison Zayas was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Adison Howard, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.

Greer has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10-2 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.83 runs. As for Travelers Rest, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Coming up, Greer is taking a road trip to square off against Pickens at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Flame will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Yellow Jackets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Travelers Rest, they will be playing at home against Powdersville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Devildogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season.
