Baseball Game Preview: Hillcrest Hawks vs. Thornton Fractional South Red Wolves

Hillcrest is 0-10 against Thornton Fractional South since May of 2018 but things could change on Monday. The Hawks will host the Red Wolves at 4:30 p.m.

Hillcrest is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Richards, falling 7-0.

Meanwhile, Thornton Fractional South entered their tilt with Calumet Christian on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Patriots.

Chris Rodriguez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Rodriguez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Michael Evans, Jr. was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Eric Talbert also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Thornton Fractional South's win bumped their record up to 9-17-1. As for Hillcrest, their loss dropped their record down to 3-18.

Hillcrest might still be hurting after the 23-2 defeat they got from Thornton Fractional South in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
