Softball Recap: Timberline Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Timberline can now relate to. They took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Liberty Patriots on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Blazers have lost by exactly five runs.

Nevaeh Haagen put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Haagen wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Porsha Miller, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Timberline's loss dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Liberty, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.

Timberline will square off against Hermiston at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. The Blazers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season. As for Liberty, they will take on Enumclaw at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets will roll in looking for their 21st straight victory, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight.
