Baseball Recap: Lakeland Comes Up Short

Lakeland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They fell 8-3 to the Lackawanna Trail Lions. The Chiefs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Jackson Pochas was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Lakeland's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Lackawanna Trail, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Looking ahead, Lakeland will challenge Holy Cross at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Chiefs are facing the Crusaders at the right time seeing as the Crusaders are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Lackawanna Trail, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Mountain View at 4:30 p.m. on May 7.
