Soccer Game Preview: Hamilton vs. Dobson

The Hamilton Huskies and the Dobson Mustangs will round out the year against one another at at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Hamilton's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Hamilton's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over Corona del Sol. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Aztecs are ranked 90th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hamilton's one-goal win came courtesy of Maddox Peterson, who's now up to four this season.

Meanwhile, Dobson entered their contest against Campo Verde on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Dobson fell just short of Campo Verde by a score of 1-0.

Dobson's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3-1. As for Hamilton, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Everything went Hamilton's way against Dobson in their previous matchup back in December of 2019, as Hamilton made off with a 7-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hamilton since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
