Softball Recap: Four Straight Home Victories for Southington

Southington had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Rocky Hill on Friday. The Blue Knights were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Terriers. Considering the Blue Knights have won five matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Shelby Jordan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Reagan Salvatore was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Ashlyn Kenefick also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Southington lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Southington pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Rocky Hill, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-2 record.

Southington and Rocky Hill should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings. The Blue Knights will take on Middletown at 3:45 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (4 vs. 103). Meanwhile, Rocky Hill (ranked 28th) will meet Newington (ranked 109th) at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
