Football Recap: Houston Comes Up Short

If Houston was riding high fresh off their 41-14 takedown of Arlington on October 10th, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mustangs lost 49-27 to the Collierville Dragons on Thursday. The Mustangs gained 76 more yards on the day, but it was the Dragons that made the best use of them.

Canon Day threw for 50 yards and one TD.

Autry, Lawrence was his usual excellent self, rushing for 170 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry for Collierville. Thanks to that big game, Lawrence is now up to 21 rushing touchdowns on the season. Another player making a difference was Cayson Stanford, who rushed for 60 yards and one score on only six carries.

Houston's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Collierville, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Houston and Collierville are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Mustangs will head out to challenge Germantown at 7:00 p.m. on the 7th. As for Collierville, they will look to defend their home field on the 7th against White Station at 7:00 p.m. The Dragons will be up against the Spartans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.7 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
