Volleyball Preview: Monroeville Eagles vs. Carey Blue Devils

The Monroeville Eagles will head out to face off against the Carey Blue Devils at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

On Thursday, Monroeville made easy work of New London and carried off a 3-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Monroeville's not only won, but also showed off some consistency: keeping New London between 19 and 21 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-19, 25-21.

Addison Homan was her usual excellent self, getting 29 digs and two aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last 23 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Grace Stieber, who had ten digs.

Monroeville was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Carey, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over Bucyrus on Thursday.

The final score came out to 25-15, 25-17, 25-12.

Monroeville's win bumped their record up to 20-1. As for Carey, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
