Preview: Bellevue East Chieftains vs. Millard South Patriots
Bellevue East has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Millard South Patriots at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Thursday, Bellevue East was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 64-58 to Fremont.
Bellevue East's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kris Brown, who scored 16 points, and Ammi Williams who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. Kael Walker was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Millard South can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game last Saturday. They put the hurt on Papillion-LaVista with a sharp 57-37 victory. The victory was just what Millard South needed coming off of a 68-43 loss in their prior match.
Bernie Anderson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 15 points along with six steals. Another player making a difference was Isaac Jensen, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Bellevue East bumped their record down to 2-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points per game. As for Millard South, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7.
Bellevue East was dealt a bruising 71-29 loss at the hands of Millard South in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Bellevue East, Lance Rucker (who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
