Basketball Recap: Red Bud Comes Up Short

Red Bud was the 53-36 winner over Marissa/Coulterville when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Red Bud Musketeers took a 52-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marissa/Coulterville Meteors. The Musketeers' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Ryne Rhodes was the offensive standout of the match as he posted 15 points. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brock Portz, who scored ten points.

Red Bud's loss dropped their record down to 10-19. As for Marissa/Coulterville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Red Bud will face off against Carlyle at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Carlyle will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Red Bud surely won't give up without a fight. As for Marissa/Coulterville, they will square off against Steeleville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Marissa/Coulterville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.8 points per game this season.
