Baseball Recap: Payson's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Payson took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Florence, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Longhorns narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Gophers 7-6. This was payback for the Longhorns, who suffered a 12-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Nolan Keeney, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

Payson's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-13. As for Florence, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-8-2.

Coming up, Payson will square off against Valley Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something the Longhorns surely won't give up without a fight. Florence does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
