Softball Game Preview: Centennial Cougars vs. Summit Spartans

Centennial hasn't had much luck against Summit recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Spartans at 5:00 p.m.

Centennial is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Tuesday. They fell 9-6 to Franklin.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Summit). They were the clear victors by a 16-10 margin over Page on Tuesday. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Audrey Cathey, who fired off four doubles, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Saniya Hunter was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Summit was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .543. They are 13-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Summit is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Centennial, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-15.
