Preview: Northfield Norsemen vs. Taylor Titans
Northfield is on a five-game streak of home losses, Taylor a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Northfield Norsemen will take on the Taylor Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Northfield pushed their score all the way to 55 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Manchester 60-55.
Despite the loss, Northfield had strong showings from Elli Baker, who scored 18 points along with 4 blocks, and Hannah Holmes, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Baker scored a full 32.7% of Northfield's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Eden Hoover was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
Meanwhile, Taylor had to suffer through a rough 76-17 loss at the hands of Carroll. While losing is never fun, Taylor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 349th, while Carroll is ranked 64th).
Maconaquah's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Northfield's defeat dropped theirs to 1-7.
Everything came up roses for Northfield against Taylor when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 72-16 win. Will Northfield repeat their success, or does Taylor have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
