Basketball Recap: Highland Park Giants vs. Leyden Eagles

The Highland Park Giants were the 42-35 winner over the Leyden Eagles when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Highland Park wound up with the same score they had in their last game (43-41), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Highland Park's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kourtnie Halperin, who scored 16 points along with three steals, and Mckenzie Reitmayer who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Halperin hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Maddie Reitmayer was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds.

Highland Park's defeat dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Leyden, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season.

Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Niles North the next time they take the court. Highland Park will host the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Eagles will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
