Basketball Game Preview: Seguin Cougars vs. Burleson Elks

Seguin hasn't had much luck against Burleson recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Seguin Cougars will face off against the Burleson Elks at 5:30 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Seguin is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Tuesday. They took a 54-37 bruising from Joshua. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 761st, while the Owls are ranked 340th).

Meanwhile, Burleson was beaten by Mansfield Summit 65-20 on Tuesday. The Elks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Burleson's defeat dropped their record down to 7-17. As for Seguin, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.

Seguin took a serious blow against Burleson in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 57-29. Can Seguin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
