Baseball Recap: Athens' Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Athens had lost four games straight , but after bumping their record up to 6-6 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the Rushville-Industry Rockets by a score of 11-8. This was payback for the Warriors, who suffered a 10-7 loss the last time these two teams met.

Davis Ishmael was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Athens: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Gleason, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI.

As for Rushville-Industry, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

On Rushville-Industry's side, Jagger Bartlett made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Bartlett has hit this season. Bennett Fretueg was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Athens has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 loss against Pleasant Plains on the 22nd. As for Rushville-Industry, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Liberty on the 23rd.
