Basketball Preview: Milan Wildcats vs. Westran Hornets

The Milan Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Westran Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Milan has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5.

Last Monday, Milan was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 50-44 to the Panthers. While losing is never fun, Milan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 483rd, while the Panthers are ranked 145th).

Meanwhile, Westran can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They really took it to Fayette for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-31 victory at home. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Westran had established a 34 point advantage.

Westran got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brady Hollmann out in front who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Treydence Chapman, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.

Milan's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Westran, their victory bumped their record up to 13-6.

Milan strolled past the Hornets in their previous meeting back in February of 2020 by a score of 62-46. Will Milan repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
