Preview: Akron Tigers vs. Barker Bulldogs
Akron has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Friday. They will challenge the Barker Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Akron focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, it was a hard-fought match, but Akron had to settle for a 50-47 defeat against Pembroke. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Akron in their matchups with Pembroke: they've now lost three in a row.
Brale Abrams put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Lamont, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, even though Alden scored an imposing 61 points last Wednesday, Barker still came out on top. Barker managed a 65-61 win over Alden. The win was just what Barker needed coming off of a 71-46 defeat in their prior match.
Akron's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-1. As for Barker, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Akron came up short against Barker in their previous meeting back in February, falling 62-57. Can Akron avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
