Volleyball Recap: Salida Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Madisyn Wilcox and Cooper Fisher + How To Watch

If Salida was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Florence on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Spartans took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lamar Thunder on Saturday. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Thunder recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Salida started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-18.

Cooper Fisher and Madisyn Wilcox certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Fisher had 29 digs and three aces, while Wilcox had 30 assists and 15 digs. Wilcox is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Salida's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Lamar, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2.

Salida has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against La Veta on the 30th. Lamar has also already played their next match (against Ellicott), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
