Recap: Liberty Common Eagles vs. Jefferson Academy Jaguars
There's no place like home for the Liberty Common Eagles, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They snuck past Jefferson Academy with a 47-41 victory on Saturday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Liberty Common's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while Jefferson Academy is ranked 81st).
Liberty Common's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Pierce Richardson, who scored 13 points. The game was Richardson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Carson Ford was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Despite the loss, Jefferson Academy had strong showings from Josh Neely, who scored 16 points, and Boston Harris, who scored nine points. The contest was Neely's sixth in a row with at least ten points.
Liberty Common's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Jefferson Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-1.
Liberty Common will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Sterling at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. As for Jefferson Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Colorado Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Colorado Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday.
