Softball Game Preview: Chippewa Valley Big Reds vs. Romeo Bulldogs

The Chippewa Valley Big Reds will square off against the Romeo Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Chippewa Valley has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Romeo will arrive with four straight victories.

Chippewa Valley managed to slip by Lutheran North the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Big Reds came up short against the Mustangs on Tuesday, falling 10-0.

Meanwhile, Romeo got the win against L'Anse Creuse North on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-1. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Jess McLeod was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Helena Murphy was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Romeo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as L'Anse Creuse North only posted an OBP of .286.

Romeo pushed their record up to 19-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Chippewa Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-16.
