Preview: Clear Falls Knights vs. Clear Creek Wildcats
The Clear Falls Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Clear Creek Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clear Creek took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Clear Falls, who comes in off a win.
Clear Falls fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They strolled past Clear Lake with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 23-6. Given Clear Falls' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while Clear Lake is ranked 413th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Dylan Proctor, who rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Proctor was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards. Cameron Kern also helped out as he racked up 124 rushing yards.
Another reason for the win was Clear Falls' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Preston Pitts and Mason Paterson who racked up six sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Clear Creek fell victim to Dickinson's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Gators on the road and fell 34-0. Clear Creek was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Clear Falls now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Clear Creek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3.
Everything came up roses for Clear Falls against Clear Creek when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 47-9 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clear Falls since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
