Baseball Recap: Semaj Snow and Dorian Daniel Secure Win for Clay-Chalkville

Clay-Chalkville's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Pinson Valley Indians a 9-0 shutout. The Cougars not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 25th.

EJ Thomason was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Clay-Chalkville is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-13 otherwise. Thomason was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Clay-Chalkville let Dorian Daniel and Semaj Snow run wild. Daniel scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Snow scored four runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two hits gave Daniel a new career-high. D'Marques Kendrick was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Clay-Chalkville's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-14. As for Pinson Valley, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-20.

Clay-Chalkville will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Indians: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
